Sustainable Professional

In my previous pages I have outlined my professional skills attained that make up my tool kit for the future.

These combine to create a sustainable professional artist for the 21st Century.

I am aiming to be part of something. I am aiming to contribute to the collective. To this end, I am already viewing studios and workspaces that facilitate communality.

At various points over the last 30 years I have had a studio/workspace at home (ie spare room/Kitchen table) or a shared space in a large building. Even when working in a shared space, it could be isolating because others may not have been present when I was. Working at home facilitated childcare and saved money, but was often compromised by my personal and family responsibities. Having taught in schools for 10 years, professional duties often became the priority.

I am going to give myself a chance now to use these skills and be the artist that I have always wanted to be.

I am an artist, curator, fundraiser, teamplayer, teacher and collaborator.
