.Territory:

an area assigned to someone for a purpose.

a region, a domain, a province.

An area that an animal defends against intuders, especially of the same species.

This was a fantastic experience!

We began by individually planning what we would do. When we met initially we soon realised that some of the practicalities of the space would restrict us in our response. We were also incredibly busy, so time poor. This actually enforces a very creative situation. We decided to collaborate on one piece. We simplified and simplified until we had one sentence we all could agree on which provoked some discourse about the space.

This was fantastic for me because I had been researching the work of Lawrence Weiner and therefore it felt like homage.

We worked very well together, sharing all tasks. I was elated by the results and felt it to be a very positive experience of collaborative site specific artmaking.

The use of the space whilst the work was installed changed ironically. People piled up furniture everyday. It was difficult ot ascertain if this was accidental or a comment on the work! Either way I felt it was appropriate. We had made a comment on territory universally and specifically and someone had intentionally or accidentally made a comment on our comment.
